getting started

Q: How do I register?

A: Registration for POZ Personals is easy, free—and required. Click here for a step-by-step guide to signing up and building a profile.

Q: Is POZ Personals completely free? Will you charge for it in the future?

A: There are no plans now to charge for the basic POZ Personals service through 2007. Depending on requests from users for enhanced services, however, we may add on Premium charges at some point after that.

Q: On the sign-up page, I can't find the year I was born.

A: You can't join POZ Personals if you're younger than 18. Please see the POZ.com Terms of Use for more about that and other policies.

Q: I forgot my username or password?

A: Please click here and type in either your username OR the e-mail address you signed up with. We'll send you a reminder.

Q: How do I change my username?

A: You can't change your username. You're welcome, however, to register with a different username and set up a new profile—and then make the first inactive (on your Edit Profile page).

Q: How do I change my password?

A: Log in to your account and choose Edit Profile from the Member Toolbox in the top right corner of your screen. Scroll all the way down to the end of the page, change your password—and then submit your changes.

Q: How do I change my profile?

Q: Why isn't my photo showing up in my profile?

A: Your photo must be less than 200K in size and in the jpeg format in order to upload onto POZ Personals. If you have all that right, click on Edit Profile on the left side of your screen, scroll down to Manage Photo and try again.

Q: How can I remove a photo from my profile?

A: Click on Edit Profile on the left side of your screen, scroll down to Manage Photo and check the box in item #2.

Q: Why doesn't the photo I uploaded appear on other members' search results?

A: If you've selected a naked picture, it may not appear on search results (check out our Terms of Use for more about our policy on that). If that's not the case, go to Edit Profile on the left side of your screen, scroll down to Manage Photo and try uploading your photo again.

Q: Why can't I open profiles or read messages?

A: Your browser may have a pop-up blocker to block ads. If you have trouble opening pages in POZ Personals, try resetting your blocker to "normal" instead of "strict" when you browse our site. Or turn off your pop-up blocker completely.

Q. How do I make sure nobody knows my e-mail address?

A. The only way other members can find out your e-mail address is if you choose to give it to them yourself.

Q. How does POZ Personals protect my privacy?

A. All your privacy questions should be addressed in the POZ.com Privacy Policy.

harassment

Q. How can I stop somebody from sending me POZ Personals messages and flirts?

A. If you want to stop receiving messages from another member but they keep sending them, click on "block this user" on one of their messages to you.

Q. How do I report another member who is abusive or harassing?

A. Send an e-mail to personals@poz.com with the member's username and a detailed description of your experience. We will investigate the issue and take appropriate action.

Q: What if I am offended by text or pictures in someone else's profile?

A: Please send a detailed description of the material you find offensive to personals@poz.com. Depending on the issue and how many members submit complaints, we may ask the member to change the content.

Q: I can't log in! I got a message saying: "I am sorry, we cannot find your info. Please contact us."

A: Make sure you've typed in your username and password correctly. If you are sure you have it right, e-mail us at personals@poz.com and describe exactly what happened. Make sure to include your POZ Personals username.

Q: After logging in, the screen says "Page Loading?" but then it doesn't change. What should I do?

A: Sometimes browsers get stuck between pages. Try hitting your browser's reload or refresh button. If you still have problems, back up and try again or turn off your computer for a while.

catch of the day

Q: What is Catch of the Day?

A: Catch of the Day is a great way to get a little extra attention! We select certain member photos to appear in prominent spots throughout the site. To be considered for Catch of the Day, say so when you sign up or e-mail us your username at personals@poz.com—and make sure to include your POZ Personals username.

Q: What's a Hot List?

A: A Hot List is a list of member profiles you happen to like or want to keep track of.

Q: How do I add someone to my Hot List?

A: Click on the "Hot-List me" button on your search results or on the member's profile. The member will show up on your Hot List.

Q. Why is no one sending me messages or flirts?

A. Did you add a photo? Photos dramatically improve your chances of getting a response. Also, the more information you provide in your profile, the better. Try working on your profile a little—and sending out your own messages and flirts!

closing your account

Q. How do I close my POZ Personals account?

A. To "hide" your account so that nobody can find your profile, please click on the Edit Profile button on your member toolbox and scroll down to Your Account. Choose "yes" next to that question. If you want to permanently cancel your account, e-mail cancel@poz.com. Make sure to include your POZ Personals username.
