Avoid scammers.

Scammers are an ongoing problem on POZ Personals. Here are some tips on how not to get duped:

• Trust your instincts! If it doesn't seem right, it probably isn't.
• Any POZ Personals member who is asking you for money is either a scammer or is simply violating POZ Personals rules on soliciting.
• NEVER give out personal information such as Social Security numbers, bank account numbers, credit card account numbers, etc.
• Report all scammers to personals@poz.com. Make sure you include their username and any messages they sent to you. We need your help to catch them!

We also offer the following individual controls you can use to stop scams and spam:

• In your Personals Menu click on Edit Profile and scroll down to "Require CAPTCHA for members sending me new messages and flirts." Choose "yes" then submit. Members trying to send you a message will have to first enter text for verification. View the video below for more information.
• To block a specific member from sending you messages or flirts, click the "block me" button found on any message or flirt you have received. This will also stop them from appearing in any of your search results.
• To report a member sending inappropriate messages, please click the "report me" button on any inappropriate message you have received. We will investigate and close the account promptly if appropriate.
• Premium members only: In your Personals Menu click on Edit Profile and scroll down to "Accept communications ONLY from premium members." Choose "yes" then submit. Only premium members will be able to send you messages.

Trouble seeing profiles or reading mail?

You may have a pop-up blocker!

Here are some quick fixes:

1. Disable the pop-up blocker (usually in Preferences) on your internet browser or security software (e.g. Norton Utilities).
2. Don't use AOL. Instead try using a web browser such as Firefox, Safari, Netscape or Internet Explorer.
3. Still not working? E-mail a step-by-step description of your problem at personals@poz.com.

Has POZ Personals taken you off the market?

Did you meet someone special on POZ Personals? Don’t cancel your profile, just hide it! (So you don’t lose your username.) Here’s how:

1. Log in
2. Click EDIT PROFILE
3. Scroll down to where it says “Hide this profile?”
4. Click YES
5. Submit the form and you’re cruising incognito!

If you decide to come back, follow the same steps, but click NO in step 4.

Canceling your membership?

Here’s the new, simpler way to cancel:

1. Log in
2. Click EDIT Profile
3. Scroll down to where it says “Cancel this account?”
4. Click YES
5. Submit the form and you’re out of the game.

PLEASE NOTE: If you’d ever decide to come back, you’ll have to register with a NEW username.

Traveling?

Find POZ Personals dates in your destination city!

We’ve upgraded our search pages so that you can now search any city, state or country on the Quick Search page—not just where you live.

Keep your account safe?

1. Change your password frequently.
2. Do not share POZ Personals web addresses—or cut and paste them.

Don’t get scammed!

Do NOT send money to other users—no matter what they promise you. And if someone tries to scam you, forward as much information as possible to us at personals@poz.com

Get your profile noticed!

If you’re experiencing an online-dating slump, it could be time to spruce up your profile. Here are some tips for driving traffic to your profile and love notes to your inbox:

1. Post a clear photo of yourself. Profiles with photos get much more attention. Avoid dark sunglasses, hats, strange lighting and awkward poses. Go casual and be sure to smile!
2. Be honest. You might not find what you want if you don’t say what it is you’re looking for.
3. Have fun with your profile! Don’t just type a laundry list of personality traits and physical attributes that you want in Mr. or Ms. Right. Let your personality shine through.
4. Fill out your whole profile! Half-baked profiles aren’t much use. The more info you provide, the more likely someone will find something in common with you and strike up a conversation.
